Accidental Death In Pittsburgh-Area Nursing Home?

A recent article by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is covering the death of an area nursing home patient.  According to the article, a 94-year-old woman who was residing in the Golden Living Center in Waynesburg died after her became stuck between her mattress and bed rail.  Although the death was ruled as accidental by the county’s coroner, the woman’s family believes that her death was preventable and may be due to neglect.  During the Pennsylvania Health Department’s last visit at the nursing home, the Golden Living Center had 16 violations, which were corrected by a follow-up visit the next month.
